On this page you will find wedding thank you wording for those tricky wedding thank you letters.
Help is here if you are stumped on writing wedding thank you notes for a gift which is broken, a duplicate wedding gift or to return a wedding gift. You will also find sample thank you notes for wedding gifts you dislike!
If the engagement is broken off, normally all wedding gifts should be returned. Don't feel obliged to go into the reasons and write a long letter, a brief note is enough. Normally the bride-to-be would write to her family and the groom-to-be to his.
Dear Mr and Mrs Smith,
Peter and I have decided to call off our engagement. Although this may come as a surprise to you both, we are both glad that we have come to this decision before the wedding actually took place.
Thank you both for the beautiful crystal vase you gave us as a wedding gift, however, I am sure you can understand why I feel I must return it to you.
Sincerely yours,
Julie Roberts

It is very sad when a gift gets broken. However, I personally think
it best not to tell the giver. Doing so would only make them feel
awkward and disappointed. If the gift was sent direct from a shop then
contact them, but if not, send a thank you note to the giver without
mentioning that it is broken.
Wedding Thank You Wording
Dear Peter and Julia,
Thank you kindly for the crystal decanter. It is a perfect complement to our wine glasses and we shall enjoy using it.
Thank you once again for your thoughtful gift.
Kind regards,

Dear Mr and Mrs Jones,
Thomas and I can't thank you enough for the wooden mask. It certainly is different and we have already received lots of comments!
We look forward to seeing you both at the wedding.
Sincerely yours,

Dear Mrs Potts,
Thank you for the lovely china piece. The hand painted flowers are beautiful and it now has pride of place on our coffee table.
Thank you once again,
Sincerely yours,
Patsy and Jon

Of course it is annoying to receive duplicate gifts. It is almost
invevitable that you will receive more than one of the same item. You
may have received 3 toasters and 4 kettles, however, there is nothing
wrong in exchanging duplicate gifts. Send your thanks for the gift
given and not what you actually exchanged it for.
Dear Tish and Brian,
Thank you so much for the bright pink toaster. It is certainly what we need and we shall certainly enjoy our toast every morning!
Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you both at the wedding.
Kind regards
